What now and where am I.

I fear direction; as its path will land on shores that result in prosperity or loss. How can i dwell on such an issue, How can I concentrate on the matters at hand when I cannot see a destination?

Who am I? Why am I here and whats the point? All three questions point to thoughts that plague my mind whenever stress lingers. I am disappointed in what I have become or becoming. If all of my potential and opportunities lie within my own bounds and the only thing for me to do is grasp and act - why does it seem such an impossible task?

Where do we turn when we feel un-energetic unmotivated and without cause!!!!

How do I flow with the river and not against it? Tears stream down my face as I cannot seem to find any stability within me, please help.

What will cause me to act on my potential. Where do I find the strength and unconquerable purpose that will enable me to care. Where do I belong and why is there so little answers to questions to the self.

My answer: just sleep, find virtue, solace and cause. to the fundamental calling of the higher power of the unanswerable; find me purpose and let me be.

and just remember - success is a journey not a destination.

We often as humans encompass our surroundings and ellavate our stature to what we would like to believe or imagine ourselves in. Is this true, are our lives what we make them and can we decipher or justify our actions?

In the midst of a alcoholic haze, mis-interpretatation, confusion and some kind of a mistake that grew from a seed which embodied the genetic code of a simple joke. I discovered the destruction of a lie and also the destination of a life in the future.

In life I see ourselves on a voyage of self discovery and along this voyage there have been times that the ship kind of lost its direction and simply drifted aimlessly, influenced by the movements and actions of our surroundings we may come across something unexpected.

Confused about the realities of my dreams and the way in which I could pusue them, while in a state of guilt, I found the beauty in the realistation of a dream.

In conclusion, sometimes things that we may regret or have done for a reason we cannot undertand, enable us to find truth within ourselves which becomes something far more powerfull than the superficial existance of mankind. It is this realistation that brings true freedom.

Clarinus Death! thats right you heard me...that just happened. Okay so here is the spice. Today after my rude awakenings- I was on my way to campus and outside while waiting for them Jammie Shuttle death traps, I noticed a fair amount of police cars in the parking lot, 3 to be precise. Thinking that this was just a dog sniff team probably searching for recreational leaf etc, I took no notice.

Until 17h30 when I went down from studying in my room, it turned out that moments before a body had just been carried out! What went through my mind and may have slipped through my mouth was, holy F@#$! a guy died \ OD \ suicided (cause of death still unknown to us villagers) only two floors above me!

Okay, so tomorrow is a fairly big day for me. I have a Maths test... So theoretically what i should be doing is learning in every spare hour available, and you see here lies the problem. Well on a Wednesday and Thursday I start my lectures at 11h00...I know, life is tough as a student. :-)

Why this is a problem is because it gives me roughly 4-5hours of time to learn in the morning, well supposedly. So as an ambitious commerce student I planned my learning to be done at the last minute and was supposed to wake up at 6 to do my learning. So last night I set my alarm for this ridiculous hour and proceeded to succumb to the depths of sleep.

When suddenly my alarm went off!

this is a brief summary of this mornings proceedings

Woken up to the sound of Careless Whisper ( by Seether of course)
then after throwing some nasty insults at my alarm, then dissing myself to the fact that i can no longer get up at six, I pressed the snooze button, which lasts for an hour in my case.
Back in the depths of sleep something awoke me around 7 ish and motivation kicked in!
at 07H10 I was learning!
however to the despite of my eagerness, to endure the lack of sleep, i managed to start learning on my bed. Which was only after fifteen minutes at my desk...
Something was happening.
After a hectic pros and cons ring match in my mind, the dam sleep won again
so at 10H30 I awoke.

I often wonder what the meaning of that word is, when we know that almost nothing is. So is there a possibility in discovering a response from it. Well yes, it is clarity in understanding direction. And thats what I have found. In a world of superfluous mis-understandings, it only becomes clear to oneself, when we recognize our dreams and find some sort of direction in life. And today i found mine...and this is one of them! From now I share with whoever cares to read this, the best times of my life. This past few months at my first year at UCT have simply been >EPIC. Some days I even wake up and ask myself if it really possible for life to be this good, well it is :) So watch this space and be jealous!

Cape Argus Cycle Tour

Okay so its that time of year again, maybe the best time of year, a time where a few of us can match up against the worlds finest aka Lance Armstrong in this years Cape Argus Cycle Tour! For me it will be my fourth so Lance better watch his back, I mean I have even put slick tires on my Silverback Phoenix which has now become the worlds greatest racing machine. And whats more my training regime for the last couple of weeks looks pretty much like other programs from fellow UCT students...
Tin roof, res food, Tantra, midnight munchies and taxi drive-throughs to MacDonalds u see being a first year is not easy..staying up late is one of the hardest things but to wake up anything before 09h00 is pushing the very laws of physics.

But lets get back to the real reason of this post. I have in fact managed to put in few, but adequate amounts of training rides through the cape. And being from natal it was something to get used to, not the scenery, wind or wide roads. But the utter disrespect for cyclist on the road down here is F!ing bullsh1t!

I have a feeling that it is unfortunately due to a blog that is quite influential in the cape and for southern Africa. It was also a reason for me moving down here. But for fuck sakes for every nasty piece of work that tried to run us over, hoot at us or see how close they could get to us up ou kaapse hill F! U! Well at least that is out of my system...Lets give cyclists more respect, we are after all humans but just cause we dress up like “prawns” / or come in to a coffee shop halfway through our ride doesn't mean u have to turn us away. Just make space. And then we can share our sense of adventure to the world. Because as any cyclist knows that feeling of the pain up chappies, but at the same time can we explain that cool sea breeze coming off the sea...while looking out at the most scenic views in the world...aaaaah the utopia, or was that the cramp.

So to all the Cyclist that are taking part in this monumental event, good luck, enjoy and god please can the wind be behind us this year.

so here is a brief summary of my dusi adventure.....

DAY 1

it all began in the first k1 batch a solid start, first over the weir and then took it pretty chilled for the rest of the day. One or two mishaps, i fell a few times on campbells portage and i am suffering from major roasties from that, but other wise pretty chilled.

Day 2

interesting, all was fine until tombi, hippo and some other random place like 200m down a i was pretty dehydrated and started to kind of fall asleep, so the elements awoke me and tipped me out my boat for a somewhat refreshing swim! but then the best thing was the dam... my glorious second gave me my sprint paddle and glasses and from there i tore the water apart....what an epic paddle.

DAY 3

ok so i had a resonable paddle across the dam but wow, tops needle with all that water should be treated with more respect! Obviously i got in at the top because really i didnt have that much to loose. But not more than 200m into the rapid my boats rudder was trapped inbetween two rocks and began snapping off my boat! I WONT LIE THAT SWIM WAS PAINFULL! With that much water i was literally smashed into rocks (the brusis still remain). So god with a boat that had very limited stearing. the river part of the race was well interesting if u could say that. Otherwise once i hit the flatwater near the lagoon life was great.

DUSI CANOE MARATHON

Okay so here it is - this year I'm actually taking part in the dusi...its definitely going to be an interesting one for me because i have done the bare minimum for training over the last two months, and on top of that - this student life business of drinking to near death cannot be good for fine tuning an athletes body. However none of that really seems to matter, because this year im going to be doing a biathlon event for recreation, pain, and i will not be looking at my result at the end of it, because really i dont care. So i will be updating the world shortly to show u my craft who me and a friend have called Moses. And because all boats are Girls, temperamental and need to be treated with respect. I had to toughen her up with a boys name because i cant have her complaining all the way down...and besides the water needs to be parted :-)

also i need to take this chance to predict three boats for the top 5 and wish them the best of luck...

VICTORIA COUNTRY CLUB

Played a round of golf today with my brother...Well u see im sort of a novice golfer and if i loose three balls and bogey most of the wholes and occasionally par one or two...thats a good round for me. Anyway about the course it has just been re-done and is pretty amazing. So i suggest if u are any type of golfer and want a good day out, pay a visit to the club but just dont take it too seriously... cause life is short there is no use flooking at all ur bad shots, just relax chill!
